Doing double duty, this heater warms up a chilly basement or enclosed porch and then switches to fan-only mode to cool off a hot bedroom. Blowing fan-forced air, the upright heater makes a noticeable difference in the air temperature within 30 seconds but is extremely quiet in its delivery. In addition, its space-saving dimensions (13 inches tall by 4-1/2 inches wide) make the heater barely detectable in the corner of a room. The heating portion of the unit has two settings--750 or 1,500 watts--and an adjustable thermostat to maintain the preferred room temperature. Both controls are shielded by a pull-out plastic cover to prevent you from accidentally turning the heater on.
