I cannot even think about how long the "sink" has been an issue. If you have every walked over to a sink full of dirty dishes and found that the sink stopper has become engaged so that the sink is full of "gick" and "ick" you know what I am talking about. This review is not for those super human kitchen diva's who never have coffee grounds and orange peels floating on tepid dish water. Well someone has to reach down through that murky mess to let out the water (not ME) and I got really tired of alternative solutions that didn't catch the "gick" for the trash and they would clog up the drain. These handy strainers stop the "gick", make less "ick", and let the water out. The sink is less likely to fill up with a mess if dishes are stacked for the day.

5These sink strainers can save you a lot of money
    By Roni shop girl
Prepare to be amazed! I mean really! These stainless steel sink strainers will blow you away in your own kitchen. What you are going to see is just how much bulk food product has been going down your drain. I'm talking about possible drain clogging, expensive plumbing issues. I know for a fact this is true because I am holding a bill from my local plumber for unclogging my own sink drain. Now that I have these little gadgets, this will not happen again.

I have been very pleased with these Daixer brand sink strainers. They are high quality stainless steel units with collapsible handles that allow you to lift the whole thing up and out of the sink. That will save you having to use fingernails as tools for catching an edge to raise it up. They are simple and yet completely effective for what they are designed for. I have let my sister know about these also, she lost a ring down the sink and has a plumbers bill to show for it. Thankfully, she got her ring back, but if she had already had these sink strainers she would not have gone through the stress of thinking she had lost her ring forever.

Now that I have been using these units, I know I will not be without them again. They are strong, well made, and entirely useful. I was offered the opportunity to purchase these at a discount for testing and evaluation. I find them to be perfect for their purpose, and happily recommend them to everyone.

    4Rattling and Trapping
    By Peggy A
First impressions are supposed to be important, so I want to note that my first impression of the product was not completely positive. Apparently, the manufacture couldn’t be bothered to translate all of the product’s written information into English. Some of the information is translated into English, but I have no idea what some of the text on the card is attempting to communicate to me. The illustration included on the front of the card is very nice, and it shows the product in use. On the back, you are given a series of illustrations showing how to use the product. The illustrations seem rather intuitive, but there isn’t a translation of the text below the illustrations. It seems to me if you’re going to attempt to sell a product to people in a foreign country, then it might be worth either including complete translations on your packaging, or removing the text that isn’t translated. I note this only because this small detail, in and of itself, makes me wonder about the underlying quality of the product. After all, if a company can’t be bothered to translate all of their packaging information for their target market, which is a minor detail, then I’m not sure I can count on them to take care of the underlying little details that go into creating a quality and durable product.

Moving on beyond my initial impression, I examined the product itself. This drain insert has a great design. By spanning across the width of the drain catcher, the handle allows the user to pick up the device without having to worry about tipping it over and having the contents dump out. Since I eat a lot of vegetables, it is nice to be able to focus on washing and cutting the vegetable without having to worry about losing chuck of vegetable down the drain. The handle is inserted into the drain insert very well. The main part has a raised portion on each side, and the handle is inserted into that raised area. There aren’t any sharp edges on the top, so you don’t get poked if your hand happens to be in that area of the drain catcher. There is a bit of a rough area on the bottom, where the handle ends, but it isn’t sharp.

When I inserted the drain catcher into my standard drain, I noted it was slightly loose. When I turned on the water, I noted the drain catcher rattled around a bit within the drain entry, moving back and forth, raising up and down, and making a rattling sound. When a cup with liquid is dumped down the drain, it rises up slightly and rattles a bit. But, when the sink starts to get full of water and backed up, the drain catcher stays firmly in place. At any rate, it did what it was designed to do; it caught things before they headed down the drain. Anything that keeps me from having to fish things out of the garbage disposal earns a gold star, in my book.

In summary, this drain catcher seems to be a nice product. It traps things and keeps things from falling down the drain, and it is easy to remove and clean, but it does rattle a bit when used.
