    1Poor quality, excessive memory, overpriced.

    Poor quality, excessive memory, overpriced.

This is junk quality harbor freight item that sells in HF stores for $6. If you have one local, there is no reason to buy online. If you must buy online, consider another brand, unless you have only a single use and would be considering this to be a disposable item.

While the concept is sound, the product doesn't have much use. It has an excessive "memory" and wants to stay coiled up. It is nearly impossible to straighten it out, and thus cannot be pushed to guide it where it is needed. It wants to coil up when being pulled as well, and is a bit too stiff to go around corners/bends very easily. The connectors on the ends are not a standard size, so they won't be compatible with any attachments, push/pull rods, etc that would be in any electrician or wire pullers existing tool kit. This means using it with any other device is going to involve tape, knots, bending wire, etc.

    4Works ok with one drawback
    By Herv J. Peairs
I bought this to use with a USB boroscope in the hopes of finding a leak in my central vac piping (3 inch PVC). I taped the camera to the spring end and fed it through each of the vac ports. It was good for getting around two 90 degree turns but that was it. Still, I was able to see most of the piping. Unfortunately, once the camera was into the first turn it was no longer possible to flip the orientation by twisting the fish tape, so most of the time I couldn't see enough of the pipe and I did not find the leak. I have since read that it's a little easier to do that with flat metal tape, so I may try that next. Obviously this is a non-standard application for this tool, so I can't give it a bad review, but I've seen that other people have bought it for the same purpose as I did, so I thought I would mention this one drawback.
