Amazingly light, super compact and easy to load and fire, the 90AD is a nice change from the beefy nailers that framers are used to. Hitachi went to aluminum on this body, and it really cuts down on the weight of the tool. It’s only 7 pounds, the lightest we’ve seen in its class, yet it drives 2- to 3-1/2 inch nails in all kinds of applications: floor and wall framing, truss and window build-up, subflooring and roof decking, wall sheathing and modular housing construction, running on 70 to 120 psi. By far, the coolest feature on this redesigned nailer (aside from its hot new look) is the FlipFire switch. Just turn it to select either trigger fire or bump fire mode. Also blessedly tool-free is the depth-of-drive mechanism, which adjusts just with a simple turn. Loading the paper-taped nails is straightforward and quick, minimizing downtime on the job. The tool drives 2-to-3-1/2-inch (.113 to .148 mm), paper tape, clipped head nails for easily tackling the most demanding framing jobs. A FlipFire switch lets you choose sequential or bump fire modes depending on how fast or how carefully you need to work. A tool-free depth-of-drive adjustment means less downtime and more productivity. Hitachi has improved the magazine with a new, 2-piece anodized aluminum design for maximum durability. Innovative vibration reducing pads extend magazine and tool life. An aggressive, carbon-steel, toenail push lever provides a sure grip when nailing at odd angles or toenailing.
