This really is a brute: 18 hungry volts of power behind a steel-reinforced collar, a rugged 1/2-inch chuck with 17 clutch settings and Bosch’s amazing DuraShield body housing. It’s a contractor’s dream drill, tested by Bosch to withstand a 46-foot drop onto concrete and more realistic real-world bumps and bruises. The steel-braced collar will take a drop right on the nose and still protect the chuck. It performs like the Bosch that it is, with tremendous power and ease of use. We expect this tool will last longer than most drills simply because Bosch made it so easy to replace the brushes-—external access means you can get this little maintenance job done in two minutes. Nice ergonomic touches include a wide trigger and a shock-absorbing rubber grip. The Bosch 13618 18-volt Brute Tough hammerdrill features a steel-reinforced collar, unibody power train, and DuraShield housing. The unit includes a ratcheting, single-sleeve, 1/2-inch chuck with carbide teeth. Its two-speed gearbox delivers dual modes of operation: high-torque mode produces 475 in./lbs. of torque; high-speed mode produces 1,500 rpm and 18,000 beats per minute. The 13618's all-metal gears offer increased life and durability, and the built-in overload protection extends motor life under the toughest applications. The unit also features externally changeable brushes. Includes auxiliary handle, two batteries, one-hour charger, and case.
