A great combination for the serious do-it-yourselfer or professional, this Porter-Cable 14.4-volt combo kit comes with two of the most popular and useful portable tools in the Porter-Cable line. First, as with many of Porter-Cable's combo kits, this one comes with two ni-cad rechargeable batteries and a diagnostic charger with an LED warning system. The batteries are interchangeable and will also work with other Porter-Cable 14.4-volt tools. Each charges in less then an hour and provides plenty of run time for most types of use. The batteries have a unique slide-in loading system in the base of each tool that makes battery attachment extremely tight and almost impervious to wear. The 14.4 drill/driver has a 1/2-inch keyless chuck that is easy to adjust and reacts quickly to the trigger. It also features 360 inch-pounds of maximum torque, a 20-position clutch, and a two-speed gearbox with a maximum speed of 1,450 rotations per minute. This is plenty of power for almost any home-based project and lots of professional applications, as well. It's a relatively lightweight tool and, in our opinion, as solid as any drill/driver we've used. The Saw Boss 14.4-volt cordless circular saw uses a 6-inch blade, turns at 3,000 rpm, and makes up to 80 crosscuts on two-by-four material on a single charge. It also has an easy-to-adjust guide plate for both bevel and depth of cut. We were impressed with the solid feel and smooth cut of the Saw Boss, and with the convenience factor of cordless design, this saw should be a serious contender for both homeowners and professionals. --Jonathon Tudor

This 14.4-volt cordless drill and circular saw combo kit has plenty of run time and power for woodworkers who want performance without the weight of higher voltage cordless tools. The drill can drive up to 209 wood screws (#14 by 1-3/4 inches) or drill up to 61 holes with a 7/8-inch auger bit on a single charge. An advanced, fan-cooled motor provides the muscle to tackle the job at hand. The rugged, two-speed gearbox has machined gearing for reliability and provides speed ranges of 0 to 475 rpm and 0 to 1,450 rpm. The result is a maximum of 360 inch/pounds of torque in the lock-up position with 20 clutch positions for a variety of applications. Bit changes are simple with the 1/2-inch keyless chuck, and on-board storage for double-ended bits. The ergonomically correct handle has 360-degree rubber grips that are ribbed for a better hold. The Cordless 6-inch SawBoss makes cutting a breeze. The blade is on the left for better visibility and the dust nozzle allows the operator to direct dust to the side at a variety of angles. The 6-inch blade is able to cut 45-degree angles in all "two by" framing lumber and a unique miter lip protrudes below the guard to prevent guard hang-ups at all angles. The battery is under the handle for better balance. The base has adjustable positive stops at 45 degrees and 90 degrees for accurate angle cutting.
