Would not hesitate to buy again.
Received a beef roast with vegetables from seller Western Frontier. Very impressed with the beef roast as it was very tasty. Had noodles and small veggies inside. My meal also came with wheat snack bread (tasted fine, dry but very heavy and filling, chocolate peanut spread (hazelnut spread - really good), cherry-blueberry cobbler (amazing!!!) and a orange creamsicle cookie (also excellent). I wish I could buy the cherry-blueberry cobbler in the store, it was that good. There were pastry bits mixed in with the cobbler, it's not just fruit. Also included was a cocoa mix, a spoon and the usual coffee/creamer/wipes. The heater stayed hot for a good 15-20 min. Heated up the beef roast very well, actually burned my tongue. Had enough power left to heat the cobbler luke warm and did nothing to heat the cocoa mix which I had no problem drinking room temp. Cocoa wasn't great but average.
I have a very high metabolism and this entire meal did a decent job of filling me up. All in all I would, without a doubt, buy more of this brand of MRE.
My biggest problem with the single pack was that there was no date on the outside so I do not know how long ago it was made. I ate the meal an hour ago, and at the time of this review, I am still alive. So that's a good thing.

Quick shipping, great product, exactly as advertised
By Linda Lee
Item was shipped very quickly and well packaged. Arrived a day before the earliest possible arrival estimate and in good condition. Got a nice varied meal selection, modern menu choices, and with no doubles. Dated 165 of 2012 so very pleased, as they'll be eaten up on a camping trip right away. I must be one of the very few people who LOVE prepackaged army food. Could eat it all day, every day - even the vegetarian and chicken meals - maybe that's a reflection on my culinary skills, that myself and others will beg for MRE's after tasting my cooking. A buddy of mine in the USMC used to call one meal 'ham and death loaf', but I could just gobble it down by the bucket. And who doesn't love tons of cool fun little packets full of condiments and matches and toilet paper that you can stuff into every pocket and pouch 'for later'?? I'm still finding drink mix packets from MRE's from the '80's in various hidden spots on my camping gear! I mean, it's FOOD! In a little POUCH! How fun! Very happy with the purchase - kids are very excited to try them. Maybe because it's that or Dad's cooking.

These are genuine military MRE's
These are genuine Mre's you can tell by the date code as well as military MRE's list the main dish on the front of the package. I didn't like that they were already three years old when they arrived. On a 5 year shelf life that's more than 1/2 gone. As storage temperature determines how long they last, these would have expired in the hot car very quickly. I was looking for something a bit closer to "newer" than these. As far as being legit, they were. Civilian MRE's do not have the menu item on package, they just say menu #6 or whatever. Civilian versions also may have the same food items but their menus are not the same as the military versions their MRE's are smaller than military versions. You get more items in the military versions. Taste seems the same to me but civilian again mostly miss the good stuff like the peanut butter and cheese items and the tabasco sauce! Although I was not happy with the date code, I still had to confirm that they are authentic military MRE's at least from the company I purchased them from. You tube is a great source for translating the date codes and life of product in different temperatures. Lesson learned from this as this was my first purchase of an MRE, unsure? send them an email request the date code before you buy and confirm you'll be buying a real military MRE and not a military STYLE version. The stars were based on my experience not knowing the product would already be 3 years old, not for content of MRE it's self. There are many places who will tell you up front what the date code is so you know what your getting.
