The Filter Cool combines the common-sense practicality of pitchers that filter tap water with the functionality of an office water cooler. It's simple to use--merely fill the detachable 2-gallon reservoir with tap water, then place it on the unit. As the water filters through Koolatron's Oxyphen filter into the lower chamber, it will lose unwanted sediments, lead, and even chlorine, resulting in fresh, icy cold water on demand. Perfect for large families, the Filter Cool eliminates the need for bottled water, and has a large enough capacity to fill your family's many water needs. Plus, it's cheap to operate, as it uses only as much juice as a 60-watt light bulb. The Oxyphen filters use a special ion exchange process to remove minerals that cause scale buildup. During the treatment process, the filters remove heavy metal ions such as lead, cadmium, copper, and mercury. The active charcoal granules also remove most of the leftover organic impurities, along with the unpleasant chlorine flavor and any foul odors. Each replaceable filter lasts for approximately 150 liters of water, or about five weeks. The unit stands 16-1/2 inches high and measures 10-1/2 inches in diameter, with a 3-1/2-inch spout. --Rivers Janssen
