The Soleus Air MS-20A ceramic wall heater is a modern, electric version of the old-fashioned freestanding gas heaters that used ceramic bricks to hold and radiate heat. The MS-20A uses less ceramic material to achieve greater heat production than those dinosaurs did, and it has a few other improvements, too. First, the heater's PTC ceramic element --PTC stands for positive temperature coefficient-- allows for more rapid heat transfer to the desired temperature setting. There's also a built-in fan and a 7-1/2-hour timer. And because the MS-20A is electrical, there's no dangerous open flame burning off the oxygen in the room. Oh, and the best part--remote control. Settings on the MS-20A can be adjusted without ever getting up from bed or from the comfy chair. The MS-20A wall heater is made of sturdy, heat-resistant off-white plastic with black and gray accents. It's designed to mount on a wall, so the shape is obligingly oblong, and it's only 7 inches deep so as not to stick out too much into the room. A touch-pad control panel with light-up indicators offers settings for Off, Fan, Low (750 watts), or High (1300 watts), and a range of timer options. The timer can be set in configurations of 1/2, 1, 2, or 4 hours; they can all be selected to total 7-1/2 hours if desired. The small remote is very simple, with only three buttons: Select, Timer, and On/Off.
Always unplug heater before cleaning; use a soft cloth, dry or only slightly moistened, and towel or allow to air dry afterward. Do not allow water to drip on or enter fan housing. Keep heater away from combustible substances such as paint thinner, etc., and do not cover it while it is in use. The 120-volt Soleus Air MS-20A ceramic heater measures 25 by 9-1/2 by 7 inches, with a 6-foot power cord. The remote takes two AAA batteries (not included). Detailed mounting, care, and caution instructions are included. Soleus Air offers a 1-year limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship under normal use conditions. --Garland Withers
