If you're looking for a reliable random-orbit sander capable of fast, even material removal without bogging down, this sander is a great choice. Porter-Cable's electronic, variable-speed, 3.7 amp motor provides 2,500 to 6,000 orbits per minute. The right-angled gearing system allows it to maintain consistent speeds even when you're pressing it down into the work. For a sander capable of fast material removal, this product offers relatively little vibration, and the large barrel grip allows users to hold and operate the tool without excessive hand fatigue. While this sander uses hook-and-loop paper--making it easy and reliable to change paper--an adhesive-paper pad is also available. This variable-speed model can work with either eight- or five-hole paper, comes equipped for dust collection, and can attach to standard 1-1/2- or 2-1/2-inch vacuum hoses. The 3.7 amp motor provides plenty of power for aggressive sanding, while the variable-speed dial can be used to slow the pad down for more finesse. Speeds between 2,500 and 6,000 orbits per minute match a wide variety of applications. The speed dial is on the end of the motor, out of the way, preventing accidental changing of the speed. A handy slide switch prevents hand fatigue when the unit must be run for the extended periods of time that sanding operations require. The spiral and bevel gearing and ball-bearing construction provide for smooth operation and efficient transfer of power. An included side handle fits either the left or right side for maximum comfort. For more versatility, this tool can be converted to use as a polisher or a five-inch random orbit sander with the appropriate accessory pads (sold separately).
